Sublimation Application Instructions

Sublimation transfers MUST be transferred onto WHITE 100% polyester material on the front of a foam OTTO trucker hat. All Shop Althea transfers are printed with highly pigmented sublimation ink and use a high quality sublimation paper that must be stored in a dry place before use. Sublimation is a permanent design which can be pressed over again with press to apply patches or other transfers. Hats may be worn and washed regularly after sublimation.

Step 1: Prep Hat

1. Lint roll to remove any debris and remove cardboard insert inside the front

2. Secure hat on hat press using cap stretcher ensuring a tight fit and full coverage under the heat platen

3. Pre-press hat at 380 degrees for 15 seconds to remove wrinkles and moisture

Step 2: Secure Transfer

1. Place your sublimation paper design face down onto the front of your hat.

2. Secure using tightly using heat tape

(Any movement of design during press will cause a "ghosting" effect)

3. Make sure all areas of design will have coverage of heat platen when pressed

Step 3- Pressing

1. Use parchment paper, butcher paper or teflon but NO SILICON for protective layer. You dont have to use protective layer if you dont have any of these.

2. At 380 degrees, press for 40 seconds with medium pressure. Enough pressure for the design to transfer but not too much to cause creasing in hat.

3. Slowly release press when time is up and carefully peel back design after a few seconds. You can repress if you need to smooth out any creases.

Thats it! You can press over it as many times if you want to add patches or anything else. The ink will not transfer or fade at any point.
